Frauke Coppieters is assistant professor within RARE-MED, a Ghent University multidisciplinary consortium for basic and translational research on precision medicine for rare diseases (Department of Biomolecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences). Her research focuses on retinal disease modelling and new genetic therapies for inherited blindness.

Sarah Vergult is an assistant professor at the Department of Biomolecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Ghent University. She is partner of the Ghent University RARE-MED consortium, that aims to address missing heritability in rare disorders. She studies the role of the noncoding part of the genome in rare diseases, in particular in neurodevelopmental disorders and implements tools to functionally characterize candidate genes for neurodevelopmental disorders.

Bert Devriendt is an assistant professor at the laboratory of Immunology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. His research focuses on host-pathogen interactions in the gut and the delivery of therapeutics to the gut tissues. His group develops gut organoids to facilitate this research.

Ward De Spiegelaere is assistant professor at the Department of Morphology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. His main focus is angiogenesis in wound healing, cancer and tissue engineering.

Katrien Remaut is associate professor at the Lab General Biochemistry and Physical Pharmacy and focuses on nanoparticle-based approaches for ocular gene delivery and the treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis.

Tom Coenye leads the Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Microbiology. His research is centered around microbial biofilm formation, the evaluation of novel strategies to prevent biofilm formation and/or eradicate existing biofilms, and the molecular basis of tolerance and resistance in biofilms.

Lindsey Devisscher is professor and head of the Gut-Liver ImmunoPharmacology (GLIPh) unit at the Department of Basic and Applied Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her group focusses on the pathogenesis and new therapeutic options for (gastro-intestinal associated) liver diseases, with emphasize on immunity.

Ruslan Dmitriev leads the Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials group at the Department of Human Structure and Repair, Ghent University.

Bernard Depypere, MD received his medical degree from the University of Ghent. He started his training to become Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon in 2013 and is now chair member at the department of Prof. Dr. Blondeel in Ghent.
